It is not uncommon for dog owners to find themselves in a dilemma of whether their puppy should be neutered or not. I have been asked on many occasions on whether neutering your puppy is good or bad? First things first, what is neutering?
Neutering is a name given for the surgical procedure whereby the male dog’s reproductive organ is removed surgically. Spraying is the term used when the female dog’s reproductive organ is removed. So is neutering your puppy good or bad? Let’s look at the following 5 advantages to neutering:
1.Keeping the stray dog population under control
If neutering is not done to stray animals, there might be too many strays on the streets. When that happens, we can get problems such as spread of diseases and dirty streets.
2.Less pressure on dog shelters
With too many strays on the streets, they will end up in the shelters. As is there are already more than enough strays for the homes to handle and many have to be put to sleep. So it is better that they get neutered instead.
3.Safety precaution for your puppy
A neutered puppy will not chase after a bitch across a busy road and run the risk of being knocked down by the many cars. Even if you try to stop your puppy from chasing after a mate, you are forcing it to abstain from mating even when the testosterone surge in its bloodstream is high. You will only end up getting a highly frustrated and maybe even aggressive pet.
4.Changes the temperament of your puppy
If you are neutering your puppy, you are removing the tentacles surgically and thereby lowering the testosterone level in your puppy’s blood. The effects of this are that your puppy will have a friendlier temperament after the surgery. This makes your puppy a more suitable home pet, especially if you have little children in the family.
5.Better health for your puppy
When the testicles are removed, the chances of your male puppy getting testicular cancer are greatly reduced, thus giving your puppy a better health.
Apart from a little discomfort for a few hours and rest for a few days, I cannot think of any bad points for neutering your puppy. So if you want the best for your puppy, it is time to seriously consider neutering your puppy.

These are all very good advantages. I’m definitely glad we neutered our puppy. I think one of the biggest advantages was the change in temperament–not so aggressive.
Greetings,
Whether it be a cat or a dog, unless we are raising them for breeding purposes, neutering them is what any responsible pet owner must do.
As pointed out in the above article it has so many advantages, and practically no disadvantages.
Where cats are concerned we neuter both sexes, but with dogs, the bitch is not normally neutered.
Well, the net result is a healthier pet, and we are being civic minded by keeping the population of strays down.
